Facility resilience | Surface disinfection

Hurricane Preparedness & Recovery

Keep your facility prepared, support essential sanitation, and plan a safer return to operations.

EraDOCate helps businesses, shelters, healthcare facilities and restoration teams plan hard-surface disinfection before and after hurricanes. We review appropriate products, supplies and staff procedures for each location.

A plan for every phase

Hurricane readiness in three steps.

Prepare before a storm, maintain essential sanitation where operations are safe, and coordinate surface disinfection during reopening.

01
Before the storm

Prepare your facility

Review your surfaces, supplies, storage needs and staff responsibilities.

  • Check inventory and storage
  • Review disinfection procedures
  • Train teams on dilution, PPE and contact times
02
During the response

Support essential sanitation

Continue approved surface-disinfection procedures in areas cleared for use.

  • Focus on shared spaces and restrooms
  • Support shelter and facility teams
  • Track supplies and completed work
03
After the storm

Prepare to reopen

Work with recovery professionals to identify appropriate disinfection steps after cleanup and drying.

  • Confirm surface eligibility
  • Follow label-approved application methods
  • Document work and review reopening needs
Surface disinfection supports recovery. It does not replace water removal, drying, repairs, inspections or professional mold remediation.
Who we serve

Practical support for the places people rely on.

Each facility has different surfaces, staffing and recovery needs. EraDOCate helps match disinfection planning to the setting.

Restoration Contractors

Product guidance for eligible hard-surface work alongside professional restoration.

Hotels & Resorts

Guestrooms, restrooms, lobbies and shared-area disinfection planning.

Healthcare & Senior Living

Environmental-services workflows under facility infection-prevention oversight.

Shelters & Public Facilities

Supply and staff planning for approved disinfection in occupied areas.

Restaurants & Food Service

Separate label-based procedures for environmental and food-contact surfaces.

Veterinary & Animal Shelters

Approved hard-surface procedures in kennels and animal-care spaces.

After a flood

Clean up first. Disinfect where appropriate.

Flood recovery starts with a safe building and moisture control. Product use follows the cleanup process, not the other way around.

1Check safety

Have qualified teams assess hazards, utilities and access.

2Remove water

Extract standing water and control moisture.

3Remove & clean

Address damaged materials and clean salvageable surfaces.

4Disinfect if labeled

Treat eligible hard, nonporous surfaces using approved directions.

5Review reopening

Confirm drying, repairs and facility-specific requirements.

For cleanup and reopening guidance, see the EPA and CDC. Disinfectants do not replace mold remediation.
How EraDOCate helps

A clear plan your team can use.

Our OCEAN approach helps organize four practical parts of a disinfection program.

Product Review

Check the current EPA label, eligible surfaces, dilution, application and contact times.

Supply Planning

Review quantities, storage, distribution and purchasing needs.

Staff Guidance

Discuss PPE, ventilation, preparation and safe product handling.

Process Documentation

Keep clear records of procedures and completed work.

Science & product evidence

Understand the research. Follow the label.

Peracetic acid chemistry has been studied for antimicrobial activity. EraDOCator-60's permitted uses come from its current EPA-accepted labeling.

What the mold research shows

A laboratory study evaluated a peracetic acid and hydrogen peroxide formulation against organisms including Aspergillus niger. It did not test EraDOCator-60 or flood-damaged buildings.

Where EraDOCator-60 fits

Use EraDOCator-60 only for approved applications on label-eligible surfaces, with the specified dilution, method and contact time.

Flood-damaged drywall, carpet, insulation and indoor air are not covered by ordinary hard-surface disinfection directions.

Frequently asked questions

Answers for facility and purchasing teams.

Does EraDOCator-60 remove mold after a hurricane?

EraDOCator-60 is not a substitute for professional mold remediation. Flood damage requires moisture control, cleaning and, where necessary, removal of contaminated materials.

Which surfaces are appropriate?

Use only on surfaces and for applications allowed by the current EPA label. Hard, nonporous surfaces differ from damaged drywall, carpet and insulation.

When does disinfection fit into cleanup?

After safety assessment and required water removal, material removal, cleaning and drying. Qualified restoration or facility teams determine when the area is suitable.

What should I send for a supply quote?

Share your facility type, intended surfaces, estimated quantity, delivery location, timing and any bid requirements. EraDOCate will review the request with you.

Does FEMA endorse or automatically reimburse EraDOCate products?

No FEMA endorsement or reimbursement is claimed. Purchasing and funding requirements depend on the specific government program or contract.
