When the organism appears on the current label, follow the exact concentration, surface, application method, and wet contact time.

Where the label uses a surrogate, such as Feline calicivirus for Norovirus, keep that relationship clear in facility and marketing language.

Why it matters: FDA and CDC are investigating a multistate Salmonella Javiana outbreak linked to jalapeño peppers. FDA reported 431 illnesses across 32 states, 57 hospitalizations, and no deaths in its August 19 update. FDA is also tracking other active Salmonella investigations.
Shiga toxin-producing E. coli
Why it matters: FDA's active investigation table includes E. coli O103:H25 and E. coli O26:H11 investigations. These outbreaks matter to food service, kitchens, shared preparation areas, and facility hygiene.
Listeria monocytogenes
Why it matters: Listeria remains a high-consequence concern for food operations, healthcare, senior living, and facilities serving vulnerable populations. FDA's active investigation table currently includes a Listeria monocytogenes investigation.
Candida auris
Why it matters: C. auris continues to challenge healthcare and long-term-care environments because it can persist on surfaces and spread within facilities. CDC continues national clinical and screening surveillance.
Cyclospora
Why it matters: Cyclospora outbreaks can affect food-service operations, produce handling, employee illness response, and public confidence.
H5N1 Avian Influenza
Why it matters: H5N1 remains an important animal-health and One Health concern for veterinary teams, shelters, farms, animal-care facilities, and workers handling potentially infected animals.

Representative label-listed priorities include MRSA, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Acinetobacter baumanii, Influenza A, RSV, C. difficile, and C. auris. Contact time is organism-specific.
Representative hard-surface claims include Salmonella enterica, Salmonella Typhimurium, Listeria monocytogenes, E. coli O157:H7, Shigella dysenteriae, and Staphylococcus aureus. Food-contact sanitization has separate directions.
Representative label-listed organisms include Influenza A, RSV, Human Coronavirus 229E, Rhinovirus Type 37, Human Rotavirus, MRSA, and Feline calicivirus as the Norovirus surrogate.
Representative label-listed organisms include Avian Influenza A H9N2, Salmonella enterica, E. coli O157:H7, MRSA, Staphylococcus aureus, and Pseudomonas aeruginosa.
Many label-listed bacteria, viruses, fungi, and surrogates use the standard healthcare use solution at a 1-minute wet contact time.
C. difficile, C. auris, and Poliovirus Type 1 use 2,000 ppm PAA and the full 4-minute wet contact time.
